Responsible Operation
Selective logging, the practice of extracting specific trees from forested areas, remains a common approach among many companies. However, this method falls short of ensuring a sustainable and responsible future. The cultivation of new forests is imperative to foster a truly sustainable and economically viable model, integrating innovation with a commitment to social and environmental stewardship.

The FSC® (Forest Stewardship Council) certification serves as a hallmark of excellence, ensuring that our wood originates from responsibly managed forests that adhere to stringent environmental, social, and economic criteria. Attaining this prestigious certification involves rigorous independent audits to confirm compliance with international forest management standards. By supporting enterprises bearing this distinction, like Symbiosis, consumers actively champion the conservation of tropical forests and biodiversity, transforming consumption into a force for environmental stewardship and sustainable progress.

Symbiosis is one of the three companies chosen by Apple to be part of the Restore Fund, created in 2021 to expand natural solutions to combat climate change. In a strategic partnership between Apple, Goldman Sachs, and Conservation International, the fund invests in projects that remove carbon from the atmosphere while delivering long-term environmental and social benefits. In Brazil, Symbiosis leads these efforts, strengthening local livelihoods and enhancing biodiversity while working directly with Apple to redefine sustainable practices in the global fight against the climate crisis.

The Atlantic Forest is our home
We are based in the Atlantic Forest, a critically endangered region facing severe habitat and biodiversity loss, where over 93% of the original forest has been devastated in the past 500 years. However, this biome holds immense potential for reforestation. Our mission is to harness this potential by combining timber production with carbon sequestration.
Bruno Mariani believes that Brazil has the potential to restore 12 million hectares of forests. This restoration must go beyond environmental benefits for the country and the planet—it must also create jobs and income for local communities. With this vision, he founded Symbiosis, committed to proving that it is possible to reforest Brazil with native species, restoring soil and water, producing high-quality timber, and preventing the deforestation of natural forests.
